Students in Speech & Dramatic Arts have the opportunity to participate in festivals and competitions throughout the year.
Festival participation encourages students to grow artistically while gaining valuable performance experience and confidence.
For over 10 years, my students have participated in the local Mid Island Performing Arts Festival, with many receiving recommendations to Performing Arts BC Provincials https://www.bcprovincials.com/ and several advancing to the Canada West Performing Arts Festival. https://www.bcprovincials.com/canada-west-festival.aspx
Students may also participate in the VAYA International Speech Arts & Drama Festival online festival.
These experiences help students develop confidence, communication skills, creativity, and excellence in performance while working with professional adjudicators.

Dedicated students may also have the opportunity to participate in the Magnum Opus International Speech & Drama Competition performance and competition program, which provides winners with showcase opportunities at Carnegie Hall.
A notable student achievement includes earning First Place in Prose at Carnegie Hall, recognizing excellence in Speech & Dramatic Arts performance.
